2023 Bash on the Bay concert ticket refunds still being issued, problem identified, owner says

Owner Tim Niese says that due to credit card processing failures, delays in refunds have occurred.

PUT-IN-BAY, Ohio — The 2024 Bash on the Bay concert series in Put-in-Bay is coming up, but some concert-goers from last year’s cancellation are still waiting for their refund.

Severe weather caused the scheduled Aug. 23, 2023, Luke Bryan concert to be canceled. Because of that, ticket refunds were offered by Bash of the Bay and its ticket agency partner Etix.

Initially, the options for concert-goers were to receive a full refund or get new tickets for the upcoming 2024 series.

However, delays in refunds, which have lasted for months for some, have caused frustration.

WTOL 11 spoke with Bash on the Bay owner Tim Niese, who said the cause for delays had been identified.

"On Nov. 29, Etix refunded 100% of the remaining tickets that had not made a decision to convert," Niese said. "A very small percentage of those were kicked back from the credit card companies due to invalid or expired credit cards."

Niese said that if fans purchased their tickets through a third-party provider, they would "need to go directly to them as they are resellers that we have nothing to do with."

According to Niese, the organization is dealing with a handful of people that are being told to go back to Etix with their order number and a valid credit card number. He hopes to have all refunds issued shortly.

The 2024 Bash on the Bay concert series features country music stars Jelly Roll and Hardy, who perform on the island on Aug. 21 and Aug. 22 respectively.
