TOLEDO, Ohio — Have you ever wanted to be in a film? Now you can - at a Hollywood of the more local variety.
Northwest Ohio's official film commission, FilmToledo, announced a casting call Saturday on behalf of 20th Century Studios, which plans to film at the Hollywood Casino for an upcoming project. No experience is necessary, FilmToledo said, and the call is only for non-speaking roles and stand-ins.
According to a press release from FilmToledo, an open call for talent will take place at the casino at 1968 Miami Street on May 17 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. In a social media post, FilmToledo said interested persons who can't make the open call can submit their audition online here.
Casting is open to all ages, but the production is looking for people of appropriate ages for the casino scene; meanwhile, casting for scenes filmed in Sandusky will also occur during the open call. If casted, the company will pay actors $12 per hour, with a guarantee of eight hours total.
Filming days are often 12 to 14 hours long, but talent will still be paid if filming takes fewer than eight hours. After eight hours, actors will be paid overtime. The pay for stand-ins is $13 each hour, also with a guarantee of eight hours. Talent should be available for seven to 10 days of work.
Filming will take place in mid to late June, according to the posting. Lillian Pyles Casting, based out of Cleveland, will contact selected talent to confirm dates and availability.
The project itself was described in the release as an "untitled film" produced by 20th Century; it is slated for a release on Hulu, but no release date was provided. FilmToledo did confirm in their social media post the casting is not for an upcoming Superman film, which is being filmed in Cleveland and Cincinnati.
"We're excited to help bring a large-scale film project here, showcase the beautiful Hollywood Casino and riverfront, and bring direct economic impact to our region," Michael DeSanto, Executive Director of FilmToledo said in the release.
FilmToledo assisted 20th Century in location scouting for the project and secured cooperation with the city, alongside regional and local casting agencies, the commission said. Additional scenes in the project will be filmed in Sandusky and Cleveland.
