3 airlifted to hospital after 'serious' rollover crash in golf cart in Kelleys Island

The driver of the golf cart and her two passengers were both ejected from the cart after it rolled off the road and into nearby trees.

CLEVELAND — Three people from Sandusky County were airlifted to hospitals after being ejected from a golf cart in a serious crash in the village of Kelleys Island in Erie County, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

According to troopers from the highway patrol's Sandusky post, the crash happened on Division Street near Titus Road just after 6:45 p.m. Friday.

Troopers say 27-year-old Eleanor Austin, of Clyde, was driving the golf cart when it lost control and rolled off the road into nearby trees. Her two passengers, a 25-year-old and a 21-year-old from Sandusky, were both ejected from the golf cart.

Austin was airlifted to a Toledo hospital with "serious" injuries, while her passengers were flown to a hospital in Cleveland. The extent of their injuries are unknown.

Troopers are investigating the crash.
