SENECA COUNTY, Ohio — Three people were killed and two were injured in a three-vehicle crash in Seneca County Thursday morning.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, at 10:53 a.m. a Ram Promaster, operated by David Gaertner, 57, of Janera, was traveling westbound on County Road 24 in Scipio Township and failed to stop at a stop sign at State Route 18 and struck a northeast-bound Ford truck driven by Joseph Miller, 41, of Vickery.

OSHP said a semi-tractor trailer driven by Aaron Knoll, 42, of Tampa, Fla., then struck the Ford truck and the Promaster. The Ford truck and the semi-tractor trailer then drove off the southwest corner of the intersection where both vehicles overturned. The semi-tractor trailer struck a utility pole and the Ford truck caught on fire.

According to OSHP, Joseph Miller and his passengers, Richard Miller, 67, of Sandusky, and Conner Miller, 13, of Vickery, died at the scene. Gaertner was transported by air ambulance to the hospital with serious injuries. Knoll also suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

OSHP said the incident remains under investigation.
