47-year-old man found dead after fire in Paulding

According to the Paulding Fire Department, they were advised that a male was possibly "barricaded" inside the residence on West Perry Street.

PAULDING, Ohio — A 47-year-old man was found dead inside a residence after a fire in the Village of Paulding on Sunday morning.

According to the Paulding Fire Department, they were dispatched to 609 W. Perry Street around 7:52 a.m. for a two-story structure fire with "possibly a male barricaded inside the residence."

Paulding fire said upon arrival to the residence there were heavy flames and smoke. PFD said fire crews used an exterior attack to knock down the fire while other crews worked to gain entry to the residence through barricaded doors.

According to the fire department, after fire crews were able to make entry into the residence, they found the body of 47-year-old Daniel Lee Kent on the ground level. Paulding fire said Kent lived at the residence.

The Paulding Fire Department said Kent will be taken to Toledo for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. 

The fire remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal and the Paulding Police Department.
