TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo police are investigating after a late-night violent crash sent five people to the hospital.
The collision happened around midnight on Alexis Road near Yermo Drive in west Toledo.
A vehicle carrying three people was traveling east on Alexis Road. As it reached Yermo Drive, a second vehicle with two occupants "failed to yield to oncoming traffic" and pulled in front of the oncoming traffic causing a collision, according to a press release.
The vehicle with three occupants struck the curb and a utility pole on Alexis Road before coming to a stop. All occupants were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The vehicle with two occupants spun, struck a curb, and spun an additional 180 degrees before stopping. A passenger in the front seat was ejected as a result and was hospitalized with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the second vehicle was taken to the hospital with serious life-threatening injuries and is in critical condition, according to police reports.
