ADRIAN, Mich. — One person was killed and two people were injured in a crash in Adrian Monday morning, according to a press release from the Lenawee County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities were called to the intersection of US 223 and Division Street in Madison Township just outside of Adrian regarding a two vehicle crash at approximately 8:15 a.m. Sheriff's deputies on scene determined a 2022 Kenworth Semi Truck was traveling westbound on US 233 approaching the intersection of Division Street.
At the intersection, a 2007 Chevrolet Impala was attempting to turn left onto Division Street from eastbound US 223. The semi truck struck the passenger side of the Impala as the latter vehicle was attempting to turn left, officials said.
The sheriff's office said the front seat passenger of the Impala was declared deceased at the scene, while the driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the semi truck was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
According to the press release, the victims' current conditions remain unknown, and names of the injured and deceased were withheld pending the notification of the next of kin.
A crash investigation team was called to the scene and the incident remains under investigation, the sheriff's office said.
