LENAWEE COUNTY, Mich. — A man is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Lenawee County on Thursday.
The Lenawee County Sheriff's Office said the incident happened at the intersection of U.S. 223 and Herold Highway in Woodstock Township at 11:41 a.m. Thursday.
According to a release from the sheriff's office, the unnamed driver of a delivery truck, age 74, was stopping for traffic due to construction in the area. Deputies said a 52-year-old driver of a car did not see the truck slowing down and crashed into it.
Authorities said that the passenger in the front seat of the car, age 58, did not survive. Investigators have not released the 52-year-old man's name but did identify him as being from Adrian. No other injuries were reported.
The sheriff's office said all occupants of the vehicles were wearing their seatbelts. Deputies determined alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this crash.
According to investigators, the next of kin for the passenger has been notified, but the names of the subjects involved are being withheld to give the family time to be fully notified.
The Lenawee County accident investigation team responded to the scene.
Crews from Tecumseh Police Department, the Addison Fire Department, the Cambridge Township Fire Department, the Somerset Township Fire Department and the Michigan Department of Transportation assisted on the scene.
The sheriff's office said the crash remained under investigation as of Thursday evening.
