TOLEDO, Ohio — West Alexis Road in west Toledo had to be closed down late on Sunday afternoon after a crash left a car in an interesting position in relation to a power pole.
Toledo police closed down W. Alexis from Mantley Lane and Harvest Lane while Toledo Edison crews dealt with wires hanging over the road from the completely severed utility pole.
The top of the power pole appeared to be leaning on the hood of the car, which itself was resting on the part of the pole that remained in the ground.
The crash happened around 4:15 p.m.
Police say a female driver was taken to the hospital after the crash. Their condition is unknown at this time.
It’s unclear what caused the crash.
Alexis Road was expected to be closed for a couple of hours while crews deal with the mess.
As of 9 p.m., 216 customers were without power in the neighborhood just north of the crash, according to FirstEnergy. The estimated time for restoration was 1 a.m.
