Ardagh Metal Packaging in Whitehouse to close in early 2024, per company spokesperson

Workers at the beverage can manufacturing facility were informed on Tuesday of the closure.

WHITEHOUSE, Ohio — Ardagh Metal Packaging in Whitehouse is set to close in early 2024, a company spokesperson confirmed to WTOL 11 on Wednesday.

The company said that staff at the facility were informed of the closure on Tuesday and that the closure will take place in the first quarter of 2024.

Here's the full statement from Ardagh Metal Packaging on the closing of the Whitehouse facility:

"After a thorough review and analysis of our production capabilities, AMP has, in fact, made the difficult but final decision to close our beverage can manufacturing facility in Whitehouse, Ohio. The staff was informed of as of yesterday. The closure will take place in Q1 of 2024, but the final details are still being determined. No further details at this time."

The first announcement of a possible closure came in October, to the surprise of many working at the facility.

"It was very shocking," Rosie Tinoco, a quality control worker at the plant, told WTOL 11 earlier this month. "I am a single mother of seven so I don't have a plan B so I don't know where to go from here."

Nicholas DiMasso Jr., the United Steel Workers 8316 President, said earlier this month that they had not been told the reason this is happening but are working to find out.

It is unclear if a reason was given to workers on Tuesday when the company announced the closure.
