Bicyclist struck, killed in Wood County

The crash happened Tuesday morning on Devils Hole Road between Pemberville Road and Lemoyne Road in Troy Township.

WOOD COUNTY, Ohio — A 78-year-old bicyclist was hit and killed by a vehicle in Wood County Tuesday morning.

The crash happened around 6:27 a.m. on Devils Hole Road between Pemberville Road and Lemoyne Road in Troy Township.

According to the Wood County Sheriff's Office, the bicyclist, identified as Gary Donaldson of Pemberville, was headed west on the roadway when struck from behind by a vehicle driven by a 44-year-old.

The sheriff's office said Donaldson was pronounced dead at the scene. 

According to the sheriff's office, the crash is still under investigation but alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
