TOLEDO, Ohio — The University of Toledo's Fetterman Field House was lined with people from different professions ready to answer questions from kids.
The career summit, billed as 'Empowering Future Leaders' was hosted by the nonprofit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Ohio and Rocket Nation.
"This event I think exposes them to more than what they see in their community. I just told them when we were outside to 'Look, Learn, and Listen'," said Kenya Guilford, a personal trainer at the YMCA.
16-year-old King Towbridge has been going to his local YMCA for over a year and says picking his favorite booth was easy.
"The planes. He was talkin about how the planes work, and like what type of planes they are over there so that was my favorite because I like planes," said Towbridge.
Saturday's event was aimed at creating networking opportunities for young people in STEAM fields. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, arts, and medicine.
