Explosive items recovered by bomb squad after being called out to Seneca County Sheriff's Office

The bomb squad gathered a military mortar shell, grenade kits and two cans of smokeless powder.

TIFFIN, Ohio — The Northwest Ohio Bomb Squad was called out to the Seneca County Sheriff's Office in Tiffin on Wednesday to dispose of explosive items in their possession.

Sheriff Fredrick Stevens contacted the bomb squad and they gathered a military mortar shell, two "M&M" grenade kits and two cans of smokeless powder. The military mortar shell appeared to be functional, according to the bomb squad.

All items were said to be securely stored for later disposal. It is unclear how the sheriff's office came into possession of these items.
