TOLEDO, Ohio — More than one hundred people gathered in west Toledo late Thursday night to remember a young woman lost too soon.
Family at the candlelight memorial, organized by friends, identified the victim of Thursday's motorcycle hit-and-run as 34 year-old Rachel Ciralsky.
The corner of Bennett and Cloverdale, where the accident occurred, has been transformed into a living memorial. Candles, flowers and pictures of Ciralsky filled the corner.
Friends and family gathered less than 24 hours after it happened to remember her. People said she was "one of a kind, always positive and the best kind of person." They released balloons and lanterns into the air and observed 60 seconds of silence for Rachel.
Her boss, Andrea Gentry, owner of Andrea's Sports Pub, where Ciralsky worked as a bartender, said she was a single mom, worked two jobs and loved her daughter.
Kyleigh Ciralsky was at the memorial and said her mother meant everything to her.
"I want my mom to be remembered as that just happy face that always wanted to make other people smile too," she said, "and always thought of other people first and she constantly just made stuff for people because she wanted them to be as happy as she thought she could be."
Authorities say both the driver of the car involved and the person the woman was on the motorcycle with fled the scene, leaving Ciralsky lying in the road.
Toledo Police is still searching for the driver of the motorcycle and the car that fled the scene. They have identified a person of interest.
Anyone with information should call Crime Stopper at 419-255-1111.
Gentry created a GoFundMe to help with the costs of her funeral and to help Kyleigh.
