TOLEDO, Ohio — Many residents along Airport Highway in south Toledo experienced a power outage Saturday, July 20 after a vehicle hit a utility pole, causing downed wires across the roadway.

The crash occurred on the intersection of Airport Highway and Williamsdale Drive at approximately 1:17 p.m., according to a police report. Police said the driver, described in the report as a 64-year-old male, lost control of the vehicle and struck the pole.

Both roadways were closed to through traffic while crews attempted to repair the downed wires.

According to First Energy's outage site, approximately 2,091 people were without power shortly before 2 p.m. but power was restored by 6 p.m. Neighborhoods along Airport Highway between South Avenue, Byrne Road and Swan Creek Nature Preserve were among the affected areas.
