OTTAWA COUNTY, Ohio — A Carey man is dead following a two-vehicle accident in Ottawa County Saturday afternoon.
The crash occurred on State Route 19 near mile post 7 around 3 p.m.
Ralph T. Davis, 63, of Richwood, was heading southbound on State Route 19, while Rodney L. Traxler, 66, of Carey, was driving northbound on the same road.
Davis drove left of the center line causing Traxler to swerve to avoid. Both vehicles drove off the east side of the road where Davis hit Traxler head-on. Traxler’s vehicle then struck a utility pole.
Traxler suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to Walker Funeral Home. He was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
Lois J. Traxler, 61, of Carey OH, was Rodney Traxler's front passenger. She suffered incapacitating injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to the hospital by EMS.
Davis also suffered incapacitating injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to the hospital by Life Flight. Davis was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
Rodney L. Traxler, 66, of Carey OH, was driving a 2007 Toyota Tacoma northbound on SR 19. The vehicle was removed from the scene by Pat and Sons Towing.
Mrs. Traxler was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.
Mr. Davis was traveling south on SR 19 and Mr. Traxler was traveling north on SR 19.
Alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected as a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
