A shortstop for the Central Catholic Fighting Irish is going to be trading the red and green for the yellow and black.
Jase Bowen was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 11th round of the MLB Draft June 5. He later made things official when he signed his professional contract Wednesday.
The Pirates weren't the only house-hold named team after Bowen. Michigan State's football program also offered the multi-talented athlete a scholarship in hopes he'd play for them, but ultimately he turned the offer down to play professional baseball.
The 6-foot, 1-inch Bowen was the 334th overall pick in the draft.
He is projected to be a center fielder.
