CLYDE, Ohio — A child was killed Sunday after they were struck by a vehicle in Clyde, police said in a press release issued Monday.
Clyde police said they responded to the 500 block of North Main Street just before 7 p.m. on a report of an incident involving a young child. Authorities arrived on scene and found that a child described as being "under the age of two" had been struck by a vehicle.
Police said Clyde emergency crews and Sandusky County EMS also responded to the scene and attempted life-saving measures. However, the child succumbed to injuries suffered in the collision and was pronounced dead on scene.
The circumstances leading up to the incident were not provided by authorities.
Clyde police said the investigation is ongoing, and said names of those involved, including the victim, as well as further information would not be provided at this time.
The Sandusky County Sheriff's Office, the Sandusky County Coroner's Office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol also assisted on scene.
Clyde is a city in Sandusky County located approximately eight miles southeast of Fremont. Its population in 2020 was just under 6,300 people.
