TOLEDO, Ohio — Santa Claus has traded in his sleigh for a ship this holiday season, as Saturday Dec. 2 marks the arrival of the annual Christmas Tree Ship journey down the Maumee River.
The tugboat is set to arrive at the National Museum of the Great Lakes Saturday afternoon. Admission into the museum is free from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Christmas trees and other donations for families in need are still be collected for the event. For every holiday support donation, the University of Toledo Medical Center will provide an additional hygiene kit for community members in need.
Additionally, visitors can watch the 51 Annual East Toledo Holiday Parade. The parade begins at 11 a.m. on South Ravine Parkway and travels along East Broadway Avenue, Starr Avenue and Main Street before it concludes at the Glass City Enrichment Center.
Community members can then make their way to the docks behind the National Museum of the Great Lakes at 1:30 p.m. to watch Santa Claus arrive with a boatload of Christmas trees. A meet and greet with Santa will follow the delivery of Christmas trees.
