CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Browns will kick off the 2024 NFL season this Sunday when they play host to the Dallas Cowboys at the newly-named Huntington Bank Field. In preparation, the city of Cleveland has released its list of rules for the Muni Lot, plus important parking and traffic information to make your gameday experience a little less hectic.
If you are planning on attending the game and/or tailgating beforehand in the Muni Lot, here's what you need to know:
What time does the Muni Lot open prior to each home game?
For this Sunday's game with a 4:25 p.m. start time, the East Muni Lot will open at 8:30 a.m. and the West Muni Lot will open at 6 a.m.
The city says for "typical" 1 p.m. weekend home games, the Muni Lot will open at 5 a.m. For evening games, depending on kickoff time, the eastern portion of the lot will open at noon for gameday vehicles, while the west lot will not be open for gameday use until 5 p.m.
How much does it cost to park in the Muni Lot?
- $40
What are the rules to park at the Muni Lot?
- No flying of drones in the Muni Lot or within 5 miles of Burke Lakefront Airport
- No open pit fires
- Propane grills only (no charcoal)
- Saving spaces is prohibited
- You will be charged for all parking spaces that you occupy
- No in/out privileges
- All litter must be dispensed in trash containers
- Vandalism of any type will not be tolerated
- Crossing the Shoreway is prohibited
- No private latrines
- Lanes must remain clear of activity at all times
- No alcohol or marijuana consumption
The city says "violation of these rules may result in fines and ejection from the premises."
What about overflow traffic getting into the Muni Lot?
According to the city, "traffic overflow will be directed to the industrial area beginning at East 38th Street and King Avenue. Motorists will be instructed by members of the Bureau of Traffic to line up on King Avenue eastbound to east 40th Street, then south on East 40th Street and west on Lakeside Avenue."
Officials remind motorists awaiting entry into the lot that they "shall not congregate on East 9th Street, the Shoreway, South Marginal, East 55th Street nor St. Clair Avenue as these streets are thoroughfares and must be left unrestricted."
What roads will be closed?
- All highway exits around Huntington Bank Field will be closed by 11 a.m.
- Eastbound ramp at Route 2 to East 9th Street will close at 10:30 a.m.
Are there parking restrictions in Cleveland on gameday?
- Parking restrictions are in effect in downtown Cleveland for each Browns home football game. For this Sunday's game, parking restrictions are in place from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.
