According to ODOT, the incident happened on Tuesday at around 2:30 p.m., on I-480 East at Tiedeman Road. ODOT officials say that the driver of the plow is doing fine following the accident.

"[We] just want to remind all motorists to move over for any vehicle with flashing lights and to put down the distractions while driving," ODOT officials wrote in a statement to 3News.

ODOT shared dashcam video on X, formerly known as Twitter, which shows a pickup truck trying to pass the plow before striking the plow and ending up between the plow and the median. The video can be watched below:

Following yesterday's accident, there have been five plows struck statewide in 2024. A total of 26 ODOT plow trucks were struck in 2023.

"We can speculate on exactly what happened here, but the fact of the matter is that if you move over or slow down when you see flashing lights, then things like this won't happen. These are free lessons that other people are teaching you. Don't end up like this," said ODOT officials on X.

Earlier this month, 3News reported the first time an ODOT plow was struck in 2024. The accident happened on I-90 near West 117th Street at around 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 7. Surveillance video showed a plow truck that was pulled over in an area off of the roadway near the entrance ramp when it was struck by what appeared to be an SUV.
