TOLEDO, Ohio — No one was seriously injured after a crash in central Toledo involving a commercial vehicle Wednesday evening.
The crash happened on North Hawley Street just south of Klondike Street at approximately 5:30 p.m. A FedEx truck was unable to clear the 11-foot bridge while driving south, Toledo police said. The truck struck the underside of the rail bridge, resulting in damage to the vehicle.
The driver was cited and released, police said.
North Hawley Street was closed in the area while crews checked on the structural integrity of the bridge. In a report, Toledo police said Toledo Fire and Rescue determined there was not any structural damage to the bridge.
Norfolk Southern was also contacted and responded to the scene to examine the area. Ultimately, the closure lasted four hours while crews worked to remove the truck from under the bridge.
