TFRD employee runs red light, causes 4-vehicle crash in west Toledo, police say

The incident occurred shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Editor's note: The following story has been updated to include new information made available in a Toledo police report.

A Toledo Fire and Rescue vehicle was involved in a crash involving multiple vehicles in west Toledo Thursday. 

The collision occurred after 2 p.m. at the intersection of Monroe Street and Douglas Road. TFRD confirmed to WTOL 11 the crash involved a total of four vehicles. In a Toledo police report, officials said a TFRD employee ran a red light at the intersection, causing the collision. 

Shortly after 2:30 p.m., a large truck was seen with the TFRD vehicle on its trailer. 

Toledo police crews closed the intersection while authorities investigated the crash. There were no injuries as a result of the crash, TFRD and Toledo police said. The driver of the TFRD vehicle was cited.
