TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo Police and Fire responded to a water rescue at International Park in east Toledo on Sunday evening.
A large crowd gathered just east of the High Level Bridge around 8:30 p.m. after a pedestrian saw a man in the Maumee River.
Crews later pulled an adult male from the water around 9 p.m..
Toledo Fire officials confirmed the man was deceased.
Police say the man was reported to have been fishing alone near the High Level Bridge. When his friend went to check on him, he found the victim's line tangled on the rocks along with the rest of his belongings.
It’s unclear how the man got into the water. Police will release the man's identity once his family has been notified.
