Toledo man dies from injuries after 2-vehicle rollover crash in central Toledo

Crews say 24-year-old Lashawn Scott required CPR and other life-saving efforts. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.

TOLEDO, Ohio — A man is dead after a rollover crash happened in central Toledo Friday morning. 

The crash occurred at 1127 Central Ave. in front of Fire Station 17.

Crews say 24-year-old Lashawn Scott, the driver of a blue truck involved in the crash, was speeding and ran a red light at Jeep Parkway going westbound. That's when his truck hit a silver car driven by 47-year-old Renzie Williams who was driving southbound on the road.

Scott's truck ended up wrapped around a telephone pole.

Scott required CPR and other life-saving efforts. He was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries where he later died.

Williams is expected to be okay.

Witnesses say firefighters rushed out from their fire station to assist the victims of the crash.

Williams said was homeless and just bought the car this week.
