WOOD COUNTY, Ohio — One person is dead and another four are injured following a three-vehicle crash Friday evening on the Ohio Turnpike.
Troopers responded to a report of a multi-vehicle serious injury crash at 6:31 p.m. Friday on I-80 eastbound near I-280, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash involved two passenger vehicles and one commercial vehicle. One person has died as a result of the crash, the state patrol said. Four others were injured.
Two of the four surviving victims were taken to the hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries. EMS transported the other two victims by ground. The state patrol did not specify the extent of the victims' injuries.
The identities of those involved have not yet been released.
The crash remains under investigation. It is unclear what may have caused the crash.
I-80 eastbound was closed for several hours Friday evening while first responders and authorities were on scene, but has since partially reopened, OSHP said.
