TOLEDO, Ohio — Call 11 for Action has learned that the City of Defiance is working on a plan to provide tenants of trailers deemed nuisances more time to find new homes in a last-minute agreement regarding 18 trailers at Northtowne Estates.
However, the city did begin the process of demolishing vacant trailers at the park on Monday.

Defiance Partners, LLC and the city were set to have a hearing on Fri., Jan. 26 regarding a lawsuit filed by the trailer park owners and a counterclaim filed by the city over the trailers.
However, the two sides met in a judge's chambers instead and are negotiating an agreement.
The trailers were set to be torn down beginning on Jan. 19. However, the city said, unbeknownst to it, Defiance Partners, LLC deceptively rented the trailers to tenants knowing they were already set for demolition.

The city has communicated it will move forward with the demolition of the occupied trailers at some point but is attempting to work with the tenants to find suitable homes to relocate.
In its counterclaim filed last week, the city asked a judge to force Defiance Partners, LLC to pay for the demolition of all the trailers and to pay for the tenants' relocation costs.
