City of Defiance, trailer park owners reach agreement regarding nuisance trailers

Under the deal, the city is giving tenants living in trailers 45 days to find new homes before their trailers will be torn down.

DEFIANCE, Ohio — The City of Defiance has reached an agreement with the owners of a nuisance trailer park.

Under the deal, the city is moving forward with the demolition of 11 unoccupied trailers at Northtowne Estates and is giving tenants of seven others 45 days to find new homes before those are torn down.

After the deadline, the park owners must provide relocation expenses or lodging for up to 30 days for any tenants who can't find suitable housing.

The city also cannot be held responsible for anything that happens to any tenants who are currently living in housing. According to the agreement, any motions for relief are stayed until the demo is complete and the tenants are moved.

WTOL 11 learned that Defiance began demolition of the unoccupied trailers on Monday.
