Cabbage craze: Fremont to hold 'Sauerkraut Social'

The event will have similar aspects to the Sauerkraut Festival from the 1980's.

FREMONT, Ohio — On Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024 Downtown Fremont will be hosting a Sauerkraut Social Event & Farmers market in from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. 

The Sauerkraut Social, held in downtown Fremont, will include pageant contests, games and a Frank's Kraut hoisting competition. Downtown Fremont invites you and your family to join the fun. 

At the Fremont Community Amphitheatre, a beer garden will be on site to sell German and domestic beers for $5 during the event. All proceeds will go toward the Public Arts Program of Downtown Fremont. There will also be food trucks and sauerkraut-themed food from local businesses. 

The social event will also feature local musical artists. Order of performances will go as listed:

  • The Good Times Orchestra  9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
  • Culkar & Golob Band 12 p.m. - 3 p.m.
  • Toledo Polish American Concert Band 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Downtown Fremont asks you bring chairs and blankets. Attendance is free to the public.
