PERRYSBURG, Ohio — Three of the trees that provide shade along Louisiana Avenue in Downtown Perrysburg are slated to come down this week.
The city says the city-owned trees will be taken down on Thursday, October 17 due to their deteriorating condition.
The City’s Urban Forester Dan Ledyard determined that the trees in front of 115, 215, and 220 Louisiana Ave. are hazardous.
Parking will be temporarily suspended in the area starting on Thursday morning while the trees are removed.
Other downtown trees were also deemed to be dying or diseased by Ledyard and the Street Tree Commission, which could pose a safety threat to pedestrians and vehicles in the area if they were to fall unexpectedly.
The city is working on a list of species that could replace the trees that will be removed as part of the city’s Downtown Revitalization Project.
The revitalization project is scheduled to start in Spring 2025 in the 300 block of the street and continue into 2026.
