TOLEDO, Ohio — A downtown Toledo public art sculpture has been awarded an international architectural prize, one of only three recipients in its category and approximately 150 awardees nationwide and beyond, the Toledo Arts Commission announced Monday

"Upon Reflection (the Sky's the Limit)" received an award in the Displays and Installations category from the American Architecture Awards, an awards program launched by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and other organizations in 1994 to recognize and honor buildings and landscaping projects across the United States and beyond. Sculptures abroad are also eligible, so long as they are created by American architects and planners.

The piece, completed in 2022, was constructed by StudioKCA and its co-founder Jason Klimoski for the Arts Commission of Greater Toledo. It is made of stainless steel cables, two large masts and two oval shapes over a median on Summit Street in front of the YMCA.

According to the Arts Commission's description, the piece is illuminated by sunlight; on cloudy days and at night, it is brightened by LED lights. It is one of over 50 pieces of public art included in the commission's collection in downtown Toledo alone; other works are also featured across Toledo and the surrounding areas.
