LENAWEE COUNTY, Mich. — A person has been charged in a 2023 two-vehicle crash that killed four people in Lenawee County, Michigan State Police announced Friday.
According to MSP, a driver was arrested and charged with four counts of reckless driving causing death. The suspect, not identified by authorities, is lodged at the Lenawee County Jail and is awaiting arraignment in court.
The crash occurred on Sept. 4, 2023, on Britton Highway near Milwaukee Road and killed four workers with Adrian-based K & B Asphalt Sealcoating.
According to a press release from Michigan State Police at the time of the crash, the person charged was driving a Ford F-250 eastbound on Milwaukee Road when it struck a white Ford F-150 traveling southbound on Britton Highway at approximately 10:30 a.m.
A vehicle on-board accident notification system alerted authorities, who responded to the scene. The driver and two passengers of the Ford F-150 were pronounced dead on scene. A third passenger was transported to a hospital where he died from his injuries, police said.
The victims were identified by MSP and family as 35-year-old Robert Fox, 33-year-old Ryan Shirley, 23-year-old Cole Weber and 18-year-old Jaiden Taylor.
At the time of the crash, the driver charged was 55 years old and suffered life-threatening injuries in the collision.
