Driver hospitalized after hitting tree in south Toledo

The 66-year-old driver from Oregon hit the tree near Broadway and Williams streets just after 5 p.m. The cause of the crash is not known at this time.

TOLEDO, Ohio — A driver has been hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after hitting a tree on Broadway Street just south of downtown Toledo Thursday afternoon.

The 66-year-old driver from Oregon was driving southbound on Summit Street just after 5 p.m., turned left across two lanes of traffic and went over a curb before hitting a tree near the intersection of Broadway and Williams streets, according to a press release from the Toledo Police Department.

The press release does not say what kind of vehicle the driver was driving.

The cause of the crash is not known at this time.

No other vehicles were involved, according to TPD, and the crash is under investigation.
