TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo police are investigating an electrocution that left one teen dead Sunday night in east Toledo.

According to police reports, first responders received a call around 9 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18 for cardiac arrest in the 800 block of Oak Street.

After arriving on scene, police state that they found 17-year-old Olivia Bright seriously injured after faulty wiring in an empty lot outside her home electrocuted her. Bright was transported to a local hospital with burns on her right hand while in cardiac arrest.

Detectives state that Bright was declared dead at the hospital.

Investigators report that Bright had been entering a camper on the north side of the property while barefoot when she was electrocuted. Examiners on scene said the camper was unplugged and soaking rains from that night likely contributed to the electrocution.

The Toledo fire department and Toledo Edison stated to police that the camper was not energized during their investigation and there was no evidence of charring on the camper door.
