MONROE, Mich. — A park in Monroe, Mich., has new renovations that are open to the public.
Father Cairns Park, which is bounded by West 8th, Union and South Roessler streets, is ready to welcome visitors, the City of Monroe Parks & Recreation Department announced Monday afternoon.
The park features a playground, multiple swings, a splash pad, three tennis courts, eight pickleball courts, a sand volleyball court, a walking path, bike racks, a pavilion and restrooms.
The nets, restrooms and splash pad will open in the spring of 2024.
The splash pad features water spouts that come out of the ground in a circular concrete area of the park next to the playground, according to the city.
The city asks that park visitors refrain from walking on the freshly planted grass so the seed has time to establish itself.
Monroe is about 20 miles north of Toledo.

Editor's note: A previous version of this story referred to Father Cairns Park as "new." It has only received renovations.
