TOLEDO, Ohio — Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur has announced federal awards going towards the University of Toledo's Health Science Campus.
The awards given from the National Institute of Health (NIH) total in over $680,000. Funds will be used to support studies of cancer treatments and other health related research.
The Cancer Treatment Research award amounts to $524,219. Funding will support research for therapeutic options for cancer patients. The University of Toledo said this funding aligns with its commitment to tackling one of the most pressing health challenges up to date.
The Biological Response to Environmental Health Hazards award amounts to $156,250. Funding for it will assist researchers to study how different environmental factors impact health. The University says researchers will use this knowledge to help prevent cancer and other diseases.
“The University of Toledo continues to be a beacon of scientific excellence and innovation, and these awards underscore its vital contributions to our Northwest Ohio community and to the field of health research,” said Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur.
The investment in these programs helps researchers at the University of Toledo pave the way for new discoveries that will make an impact for not only patients, but also families and communities across the nation.
