Fifth Third Field moving to cashless venue this season

The Mud Hens announced that Fifth Third Field is becoming a completely cashless venue.

TOLEDO, Ohio — If you're headed to a Mud Hens game this season, leave the cash at home.

Fifth Third Field has become a completely cashless venue "in an effort to improve efficiency, security and the fan experience," the Mud Hens announced on Thursday.

Starting this season, only debit and credit cards will be accepted as payment throughout the ballpark.

The Mud Hens said that mobile payment methods such as ApplePay and Google Pay will be accepted at concessions and The Swamp Shop.

Opening Day for the Mud Hens is on Friday, March 29 at 4:05 p.m. as they kick off the season with a series against the Nashville Sounds.
