FINDLAY, Ohio — Findlay City Schools has selected Dr. Andy Hatton to assume the position of superintendent on Aug. 1.
Hatton, selected by the FCS Board of Education, is the current associate superintendent of learning and leadership for Upper Arlington City Schools in central Ohio.
"He brings a unique skillset that will elevate our district in many areas, including enhancing our academic achievement which aligns to our strategic plan," FCS Board of Education President Matt Cooper said in a press release Tuesday. "He also brings a strong leadership ability that will foster collaboration with community members, parents, administrators, teachers, and students. We believe in Dr. Hatton and are confident in his ability to lead our district to the top while also communicating progress to all stakeholders.”
Hatton will succeed previous FCS Superintendent Troy Roth, who announced his departure from the district in February 2022 to become superintendent at Bellevue City Schools in August 2022.
Hatton holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Ohio Wesleyan University, a master's degree in educational administration from Ohio State University and a doctorate of education in educational leadership from Miami University.
He has spent much of his professional career in central Ohio. Prior to his current role with Upper Arlington City Schools, Hatton was a middle school teacher at Columbus City Schools, the principal of Dempsey Middle School in Delaware City Schools and the director of curriculum at Dublin City Schools.
His five-year superintendent license was issued by the Ohio Department of Education on June 28, 2022, and will expire on June 30, 2027.
