FINDLAY, Ohio — A lockdown was implemented at Northview Primary School in Findlay Friday morning, after the district said they received a phone call regarding a potential threat outside the school. Police determined there was no threat to the school.
According to a Facebook post from Findlay City Schools, the district received a call from the Veteran and Military Crisis Line about a message the line had received about a potential threat outside of Northview Primary School, located on Lexington Avenue.
In a press release, Findlay police said an "unknown male caller" had told the crisis line he was at the entrance of the school with a rifle.
The district placed the school on lockdown. The crisis line had already called Findlay police, the district said, and officers responded to the scene, where they determined there was no threat.
The school day will continue as normal, Findlay schools said. Increased security will be present at the school throughout the day.
Findlay schools said police told them the call appeared to have been received across the United States Friday morning. In the press release, Findlay police described the call as a "hoax" and added that similar calls had been made to other Veterans Crisis lines.
WTOL 11 contacted Washington Local Schools Friday morning, who said they had also received a swatting call regarding Shoreland Elementary School. Shoreland was placed under lockdown while law enforcement determined there was no threat.
