FINDLAY, Ohio — The Northwest Ohio Bomb Squad was called to a house in Findlay after a construction crew found three grenades Tuesday morning.
Just after 11 a.m., a construction located two hand grenades and what Findlay police described as a “military-style” smoke grenade in a house they were working on in the 400 block of Washington Street. The residence was not occupied, police said, and had previously been used as a staging area for several construction companies.
The bomb squad responded to the scene and determined the hand grenades were “likely inert training munitions” while the smoke grenade was “likely functional.” The grenades were collected for destruction, according to police.
No other dangerous ordinance was found at the scene and police were unable to determine the owner of the grenades.
