HOLLAND, Ohio — Students at Springfield High School were forced out of class due to a fire Monday morning.
Flames broke out on an AC unit on the roof of the building as construction was being done.
A maintenance man noticed the smoke and pulled the fire alarm around 7:30 a.m.
Firefighters arrived and put out the flames within minutes.
The district's community liaison Kristina White says students and faculty were waiting outside of the building to see if it was safe to go back in.
As a precaution, the school is closing at 10 a.m. Student drivers will be released at the time; students transported by the district will board buses beginning at 10:15 a.m. Parents wishing to pick up students can pick them up from the high school's front entrance.
