The flames broke out on Church Street around 10:30 a.m. on Friday.

SWANTON, Ohio — A large fire is under control after flames broke out at a Swanton carpet manufacturer Friday morning.

The incident occurred at Scottdel Cushion, LLC on the 400 block of Church Street around 10:30 a.m.

At 5:30 p.m., fresh crews arrived to continue working on hot spots.

Due to the damage, part of the building is set to be demolished.

Becky Goble with Fulton County EMA said that while the cause of the fire is still unknown, the foam backing of the carpet is what was burning.

Only one welder and one maintenance man were working at the time of the incident. However, one of them had to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Fire crews are expected to remain on the scene most of the night.
