Central Toledo home goes up in flames, TFRD investigating

Firefighters at the scene told WTOL the blaze caused extensive damage to the second floor after it ripped across the attic of the home and went through the roof.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo Fire & Rescue is investigating a house fire in central Toledo.

A press release from Toledo police states they were doing a routine patrol when officers spotted the blaze at a home on Woodland Avenue near Smead Avenue just after 3:30 a.m.

Officers forcefully entered the back door of the home to check for occupants, according to the press release.

Fire officials at the scene told WTOL no one was home when the fire started.

No injuries were reported. 

Firefighters told WTOL the fire ripped through the upper attic area of the home and went through the roof, causing extensive damage to the second floor.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
