TOLEDO, Ohio — An east Toledo neighborhood was filled with smoke on Saturday evening after a house caught on fire.
The fire started around 8 p.m. at a home on St. Louis St. near Nevada St.
Toledo Fire and Rescue Department firefighters say the home was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
During the fire, the first floor of the home collapsed into the basement prompting firefighters to pull out of the structure.
Firefighters say there was no risk to neighboring structures.
It’s unclear what started the fire.
No firefighters were injured fighting the fire.
Toledo Fire and Rescue Fire Investigation Unit was contacted to investigate.
The fire investigation unit “investigate(s) the origin, cause and circumstances of fires that are of undetermined or incendiary in nature,” according to Toledo Fire and Rescue’s website.
