TOLEDO, Ohio — Flag City Honor Flight has announced the dates for this year's veterans' trips to Washington, D.C..
This is the 2024 flight schedule:
- April 23
- June 11
- Sept. 10
- Nov. 12
The non-profit group based in Findlay takes several day-long trips each year to Washington, D.C., to visit war memorials. Flag City Honor Flight provides the trips for veterans from northwest Ohio at no cost.
To make the trip, veterans of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War can apply with Flag City Honor Flight. To apply, visit the group's website at flagcityhonorflight.org.
Veterans from other eras are encouraged to volunteer to serve as "guardians" on this year's flights to help with the trip.
Honor flight officials said some veterans already have applied for flights. Those veterans do not need to re-apply.
The group plans to begin making calls later this month to veterans who have been chosen for flights in 2024.
Flag City Honor Flight President Steve Schult said he was enthusiastic for the coming year in a statement released to local media.
"We are honored to announce our 2024 flight schedule," Schult said. "Our veterans have given so much to our nation, and it is our duty to ensure they have the opportunity to visit the memorials that stand in their honor. Flight sponsorships, financial contributions, and dedicated guardians (volunteers) are increasingly crucial as we prepare for four flights this season."
