TOLEDO, Ohio — A former Toledo pastor who was convicted of child-sex trafficking in March, filed a motion to be a appointed a new attorney Tuesday.

According to the motion, "there has been a breakdown in the attorney/client relationship; to the point where the Defendant no longer has confidence moving forward with the current Counsel."

Haynes also claims that he has several legitimate reasons for the request which are both known and unknown to the current court. Therefore in fear of revealing too much, Haynes is "tipping his hand to the Government regarding trial strategy and possible theories of this case."

The motion also states that Haynes has made several good faith attempts to resolve the matter with his current attorney informally and that his motion is not to delay the court from moving forward, nor is to question his attorney's motives.

Last month, Haynes attorneys asked for new trial and requested that the jury's guilty verdict be vacated, however Haynes is still set to be sentenced next month.

Haynes was found guilty of grooming, sexually exploiting and trafficking the girl after her mother introduced her to him at his church after the girl had already been previously abused.

Cordell Jenkins, another former Toledo pastor, involved in the case made an appeal to the United States Court of Appeals after being sentenced to life in prison.

Jenkins was given his sentence after pleading guilty to a nearly three-year sex-trafficking ring that involved a girl starting at age 14.
