Frederick Douglass Community Association begins renovations, turns to community for help

Organization leaders are asking 100,000 citizens to donate $100 at the Toledo Urban Federal Credit Union.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Leaders with the Frederick Douglass Community Association announced a plan to begin renovations Monday, and leaders are turning to the public for help.

At a press conference, organizers described the association's new FDCA Foundation and asked 100,000 citizens to donate $100 at the Toledo Urban Federal Credit Union. 

Some renovations have already started as the building while the building has remained empty due to the coronavirus and the group has already received several donations.

Leaders said they believe these new developments will have a lasting impact on the Toledo community.

The Frederick Douglass Community Association's mission is to "create an epicenter of hope and empowerment to strengthen the community through education, skill workforce enhancement, recreation and supportive services."

The center is located 1001 Indiana Ave. in Toledo.
