Fremont motorcyclist dies of injuries from Friday crash

SENECA COUNTY, Ohio — One person has died of injuries suffered in a crash in Seneca County Friday afternoon, according to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol. 

Authorities said 71-year-old William Owsley, of Fremont was traveling southbound on SR 19 on a 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle at approximately 2 p.m. Friday. Owsley struck the back of a Chevrolet Silverado that was stopped at a stop sign for SR 18 in the Village of Republic, OSHP said. 

Owsley was transported to the hospital by Life Flight for injuries suffered in the crash. According to the release, Owsley died of his injuries on Sunday afternoon. 

The driver of the Silverado suffered minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital. 

According to the press release, Owsley was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. OSHP said the crash remains under investigation.
