FREMONT, Ohio — Editor's note: The above video is from an unrelated story about school safety that aired on Aug. 17.
According to the Fremont Police Department, a 12-year-old was arrested after posting a message to Snapchat on Sunday with the caption "all the school supplies I need" and a photo of three firearms, which were later learned to be BB guns upon confiscation.
The 12-year-old will also "face consequences through Fremont City Schools in accordance with their policies," Fremont police said in a press release.
Police said the parents of the 12-year-old are cooperating.
Fremont police urged parents to talk to their children about the consequences of their activity on social media.
"Content like this will be taken seriously by the Fremont Police Department and we will commit all of the resources we have to ensure these incidents are investigated completely," the press release said.
