FINDLAY, Ohio — It's the second year for a program in Hancock County that offers free, family-friendly activities year-round.
In its second year, the Fun for All series aims to offer affordable, mostly free activities for their community.
Brian Treece, President and CEO of the Findlay Hancock County Community Foundation said the program was launched in 2023 after community conversations showed the Community Foundation that many county residents were constantly looking for fun activities that aren't too expensive.
"Last year alone we served over 10,000 people with those activities. So we're doing it again in 2024," Treece said.
The Community Foundations uses their unrestricted or community endowment fund for the program.
Monday morning, members of the Lima Symphony Orchestra held Symphony Storytime at the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library, which they had done in the past, but now make the trip up with funding from the Free for All program.
"It's such a great match and the symphony does such a great job of picking books that pair really well with music and keeping kids engaged in that way," Brittany Lutes, youth services manager at the library said.
"And this is an opportunity just for people to come together and have fun, and at some of them you might learn a little bit as well," Treece said.
Local leaders believe the Fun for All series will be continuing for the foreseeable future so if anyone has some good ideas for events, they should reach out.
"We're always looking for more ideas," Treece said. "If non-profits in Hancock County have an idea, please reach out to us, we'd love to have a conversation."
Events have been planned through the rest of the year as well.
"We will have community swimming days at all of the public pools in Hancock County. You'll see boat rentals, you'll see painting classes with Awakening Minds, you'll see things around the Fourth of July at the fireworks display. All different kinds of things," Treece said.
